This past weekend we checked #1 off of our “bucket list”. Here’s the back-story: Around the holidays Joel came up with the idea of us doing something out the ordinary once a month. Joel and I have always been movers and shakers when it comes to outings but we slowed down to enjoy life with a new baby. Now that Reed is almost a year old and is an “easy” baby in every way, we decided to pick our mini-trips back up. Our first stop was the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Although Reed and Joel were a bit under the weather we thought it was a good day to make the trip up North and see some art. The whole day ended up being absolutely perfect. Not only is the museum building a gem of architecture but the galleries were full of some amazing pieces. We happily strolled through the building, all 3 of us enjoying the art. We had lunch at the café overlooking the lake and even took Reed to play on some of the interactive exhibits (he had a great time climbing chairs in the Chair Park).
On our way home, with Reed snoozing in the backseat we talked about how happy we were that we went. It was a full day and now that he’s mobile he can really experience things first hand. We’ve already picked our destination for February and it’ll be another inside adventure. It won’t exactly be based in the arts but it will let Reed explore outside of our everyday life. I hope this becomes a traditional that we all look forward to and will remain for years to come.

A wonderful idea of monthly outings to explore “the world” be it art, music, a museum, a zoo (Milwaukee zoo is a great zoo also), a park/playground, boating/water activities. We did that with our children, we can now only pull out the pictures and reminisce the fun we had. Enjoy! Love Uncle John & Aunt Carrie
P.S. We actually accompanied Sammantha to the Chicago Art Museum last fall and throughly enjoyed visiting some areas we’ve never covered. Also got to see the brand new addition which is such an assect and houses Chagall”s large Chicago stained glass windows. Maybe you could put that on your “…to see” list for next summer.
